AC-RUBBER CONTRACT FARMING

FNN, in cooperation with Tbong Khmum Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries under Fair for All project funding by Oxfam, organized rubber contract farming signing ceremony at P&T Hotel, Tbong Khum province, on September 17, 2024 presided over by H.E. Kun Rathmony, Deputy Governor of Tbong Khmum Provincial Board of Governors​, with the present of Chea Pisey, Deputy Director of Agriculture Industry Department as a witness. The contract farming was signed between four rubber producers (including Ak Phirak Ponhea Krak Dambe Agriculture Cooperative (AC), Donmeas Mean Chey AC, Chhuk Sar Producer Group, and Kampreus Producer Group) four local rubber buyers manely Mr. Yat Soeung, Ms. Boeurn Eab, Mr. An Vuthy, and Mr. Chea Nouv with 505 Matrix ton of rubber per year. This amount of rubber will be produced by 90 families over the 187.40 hectare of rubber plantation. This is the first rubber contract farming at Tbong Khum province. This is an effort by multi-actors such as Tbong Khum PDAFF, local buyers, ACs/producers with FNN’s facilitation and Oxfam’s funding. This is the first time that Tbong Khmum province has developed a rubber rubber contract farming and a new change in the rubber sector with trade agreements to move towards increasing family economy as well as strengthening rubber value chain and inclusive and sustainable cooperation.
