Join Visit to The Project Sites (Tbong Khmum and Kampong Cham provinces)
|FNN, in cooperation with SNV and De Heus, has implemented the Climate-Resilient Farming and Supply Chain Development to Support COVID-19 Recovery for Smallholder Poultry and Maize Farmers Project, in Tbong Khmum, Kampong Cham, Kandal, and Prey Veng provinces. The project lasts 18 months (from December 2023 to May 2025) and is funded by ADB-De Heus. The project aims to increase climate resilience of 4000 smallholder poultry and maize farmers (50% female) through improved farm management and value chain linkages through delivering comprehensive training and capacity-building support. As a result, the project conducted Training of Trainer for 5 trainers (including 3 trainers for maize production and 2 trainers for poultry), produced 4,700 copies of maize and poultry training manuals with financial literacy concept, and delivered three-day training workshops for 4002 smallholder farmers in 179 villages, 35 commune, 12 district in the four target provinces. On March 17 and 18, 2025, FNN conducted join visit (ADB, De Heus, SNV, and FNN) to the project sites. The visit found that there were change of the behaviors of the trained poultry and maize smallholder farmers. They applied the knowledge gained from the training courses. They shared knowledge and skills among family member and neighbors. Meanwhile, farmers who applied the maize cropping technique increased yield up to ten matrix ton of corn per hectare.
