AFA 11th General Assembly: New Chair of AFA-Women Farmer Committee
|Ms. Seak Kalian, who is a Chief of the Controlling Committee of Rachna Satrey Roung Roeurng AC in Siem Reap province and a member of FNN Board of Director, has been nominated as a chairman of women farmer committee of AFA during the AFA 11th General Assembly on September 17, 2024, in Nepal.
As a chair of AFA women farmer committee, she has committed to play importance roles as follows:
- Representing the interests of women farmers in policy discussions, ensuring their voices are heard in agricultural policies.
- Facilitating training and workshops to enhance the skills and knowledge of women farmers in areas like sustainable farming practices, financial literacy, and leadership.
- Building connections among women farmers and with other stakeholders, such as government agencies, NGOs, and market actors, to strengthen support systems.
- Identifying and accessing resources, including funding and technical assistance, to support women-led agricultural initiatives.
- Sharing valuable information regarding best practices, market trends, and technology that can benefit women in agriculture.
- Promoting gender equality and empowering women within agricultural communities to take on leadership roles and make decisions.
- Assessing the impact of programs and policies on women farmers and advocating for necessary changes based on feedback and data.
These roles aim to enhance the participation and empowerment of women in agriculture, contributing to sustainable development and food security.
